Not closing in October, either.

So - we aren't closing in October at all.  Tell me if you were in our shoes would you really put up with this?  And wait?  Do you think that you would be a little irritated about this whole situation?  We made it VERY clear in email, on the phone, in person that we cannot close in November because we are getting married and will be out of the country.  We started this whole process back in March.  Broke ground in May.  This townhouse is taking Ryan Homes 6 months to finish.  We STILL do not have power.  We drove by the house the other night.  Some of the houses do have power.  But, not ours.  We were told our house was priority.  Doesn't look like that to us.  We don't have water, we JUST got gas this week...our island needs to be moved and our floors need to be fixed.  It's a very unfortunate situation and frankly, our friends and family that say "it'll be okay"...we wonder if that's what they would say if they were in our shoes.  They can't even tell us when we are going to close.  Absolutely ridiculous.

  1. How utterly frustrating. They did a giant house for my cousin in three months, but they say ours will take four months, even though it's not as big. I wonder how it's all decided.

  2. *hugs*

    It can be so frustrating!!!

I can't believe they aren't doing more to get you guys in on time! That surprises me. Greatly.

How has the weather been? That can slow things up. As well as contractors screwing up. Unfortunately, Ryan is at the mercy of the contractors they hire.

I hope that this turns around for you and they can fix this for ya'll. I really do.

  3. I feel like they should work with you in order to make your closing date (even if the house is done prior) pushed back to after you return from your honeymoon. I know it would be preferable for you to close before your wedding, but at this point since it seems like that's not going to happen I feel like you have been patient and a good customer so they really need to be flexible since they are the one's who are not delivering on time. So sorry that this is becoming such a burden for you! Fight for what you want and hang in there.

  4. I would be extremely disappointed, frustrated and annoyed. I feel so terrible about the experience that your having...especially all while planning a wedding! I agree with John and Colleen Ryan needs to accomodate your schedule now instead of just throwing a date at you.

  5. Agree with everyone above...very frustrating...what does your PM say...by the last couple of weeks we were talking with our PM just about every day. There could be inspection problems holding up connecting the electric. Ask your PM for straight answers on when things are going to be completed and what the hold up is...if you aren't getting an answer from him call the district manager and demand answers...we got our letter with our closing date about 1 week after our drywall was completed and a little over 1 month before settlement.

  7. Just wondering whatever happened with your interest rate? Did they honor it or did you have to "re-lock" since it was over 60 days. The whole rate-lock thing is so stressful!
