Sealing Granite & Grout

Hello!  To the people who have already settled into their new homes, when did you seal your granite and grout in the shower?  I am not sure if we should do this immediately after closing?  Also - what products did you use and how long did it take you?  If you could let me know, that would be great!  Thank you so much!! :)

  1. I plan to do this when we move in immediately. Before we shower. I bought the spray grout! GL I'll post pics when 'm done hopefully. We close today! :)

  2. I contacted our Rep and got the company who put them in to come out and do it.

Our granite actually already came sealed for one year. We are calling them back at about 9 months to come out and strip it down and put a 15 yr sealer on it.

I would seal both ASAP!! Especially your shower! You don't want to seal in any moisture behind the tile at all!

  3. Just spoke with our PM. He said the granite is installed "Pre sealed" however he recommends adding another coat to help out. It sounds like we're in the same boat as Noey.

We plan doing the grout sealing the same as you. Although I didn't know there are spray-on versions, I thought it was rolled on with a special bottle or something.
